Brian, Alex and I were honored to photograph the 5th Jordan’s Journey Gala held at Mohegan Sun again this year. There were 1100 + supporters at the gala this year and they raised over $12000 on the giving heart alone!! In attendance were US Senator Chris Murphy as well as Jody Ferrer speaking, a musical performance by Daniel J Baker and keynote speaker this year was Jordan Burnham. A big thanks to Masters of Ceremonies, Renee DiNino and Mark the Shark, after party entertainment by the band Mass-Conn-Fusion. And there was even a marriage proposal too by Jordan!!
The Jordan’s Journey Gala is an annual celebration of the life and spirit of Jordan Porco and the primary fundraising event for The Jordan Matthew Porco Memorial Foundation raising awareness of suicide prevention.
The Mission of the Jordan Matthew Porco Memorial Foundation is to prevent suicide in the college and college entry student population that is often the end result of significant emotional disorders triggered by stress and/or not recognized within the person until it is too late. They do this in the name and spirit of Jordan Matthew Porco, who died by suicide in 2011. YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THIS.
Their goal is to help prevent suicide among the college age student population by increasing awareness, identifying resources available to students, helping friends and family recognize the warning signs of depression, encouraging at-risk persons to seek out help, and providing financial support to those organizations and programs dedicated to suicide prevention. With the generosity of sponsors, the support of those who attend, the dedication of volunteers, and the importance of their mission, this event is simply breathtaking and like none other.
